Both Papillion and La Vista are cities in Sarpy County, Nebraska that serve as suburbs of Omaha. While Papillion and La Vista are similar in size, Papillion serves as the county seat of Sarpy County and covers a slightly larger land area. These two Nebraska communities share quite a few resources, including a public school district. Both communities have experienced significant population growth over the last decade. Papillion has been recognized by several publications- including Bloomberg Business Week, and CNN/Money Magazine- for the advantages of living in this Omaha suburb.

Shopping and Dining

The Shadow Lake Towne Center is a large shopping destination located within minutes of Papillion and La Vista real estate, offering a variety of shops and restaurants.  Another nearby shopping center is the Shoppes at Market Pointe located on South 71st Street. A variety of grocery stores are conveniently located for area residents. 

Several Mexican restaurants are located in and around Papillion and La Vista. These include La Mesa Mexican Restaurant and Lina's Mexican Restaurant.  Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is a popular fine dining destination located on Regency Parkway. Asian cuisine is served at Maru Sushi & Korean Grill  and The Jaipur. Fast food shops are also readily available. 

Parks and Recreation

Both Papillion and La Vista are dotted with many parks and recreational areas where residents can enjoy the outdoors. Papillion City Park, Halleck Park, and Lawrence Peterson Park are all centrally located in Papillion. La Vista offers La Vista City Park, Central Park, and Memorial Park. Walnut Creek Recreation Area to the southwest, is a larger natural area that surrounds Walnut Creek Lake and offers outdoor activities such as boating and fishing. Papillion and La Vista are both great places of residence for avid golfers with La Vista Falls Golf Course and Tara Hills Golf Course  located within minutes of both cities. 

Omaha offers many recreation centers that residents of Papillion and La Vista real estate can take advantage of for athletic and social opportunities. Mockingbird Hills Community Center offers a public swimming pool in addition to facility rentals and other special community events throughout the year. Papillion Landing, Papillion's newest recreational center, offers a huge array of amenities for all ages, as well as a 25 acre outdoor complex with soccer, baseball and softball fields. 

Schools and Transportation

Public schools in both Papillion and La Vista are run by Papillion-La Vista Public Schools. This school district has a student of enrollment of around 10,500 and operates two high schools, two junior high schools, and 14 elementary schools. Private schools located in and around the two cities include St. Gerald's Catholic School , Primrose School of La Vista and Saint Columbkille School.

Metro Area Transit provides public transportation via bus routes in both Papillion and La Vista. Those residing in Papillion and LaVista real estate can rely on Amtrak or Greyhound service for transportation outside of the Omaha area. Area residents can also travel by air out of Eppley Airfield, which is located three miles northeast of the city of Omaha and about 25 minutes to the northeast of Papillion and La Vista.
